In the Chinese culture Goldfish is a symbol of surplus and wealth and the association of goldfish with good fortune is reinforced by legends.
Some tells of a period of drought ending when the world’s first goldfish jumped out of a well, others have goldfish present at the beginning of time.
In art, paintings of fish have been found on Chinese artifacts dating from around 8,000 BC and goldfish can be found in Chinese art until nowadays.
Goldfish not only represent fortune, but the notion that it is possible for everybody to achieve whatever they want.
About the Artist
“Italian artist Francesco Camillo Giorgino, known as Millo, paints large-scale murals that feature friendly inhabitants exploring their urban setting. He uses simple black and white lines with dashes of color when necessary, and often incorporates elements of architecture into his multi-story paintings.” C. Jobson Colossal. He took part to several street art festival all around Europe, like the Muraliza in Portugal, Vilnius Street Art in Lithuan, Heerlen Murals in Netherland but also the Sbagha Bagha in Morocco, the Urban Myths in Belarus and many more.
His works have been exhibited in London, Rio de Janeiro, Chicago, Milan, Rome, Florence and more. In 2014 he won the B.Art competition that enabled him to paint 13 multi-story murals in the city of Turin (IT). “Sometimes coyly surreal, other times borderline terrifying, his designs appear like Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos’ street art mixed with the black-and-white world of graphic novelist Yumi Sakugawa. Needless to say, we like it.” K. Brooks, Huffington Post
